I recently put myself down for a diorama challenge on

the official Infinity forum with the theme being ice and

snow. This is what I came up with.

It was my first play around with snow and ice type products

and I am very pleased with the outcome.

Basically its a 1 x 1 foot board with styrene used to

create the ice shapes. To create the snow and ice I used Soft

Flake Snow from Woodland Scenics and the ice is WS Water

Effects. I added a few bits of left over parts to create the

small jetty at the bottom right and a scratch built power source

for the radar. The radar is a £3.99 ebay special.

The Panoceania Fusilier has been slightly converted so

he is holding a range finder and I scratch built some skis

and sticks to give the impression he is on patrol.

The hardest bit for me was trying to blend the diorama into

the photographic backdrop and make it look seemless.

I will take some more pictures shortly to show more of the base

and a close up of the Fusilier.

Its a Revel Micro Wings Hawker Typhoon 1B

which comes as an unpainted 1:144 scale kit at

tiny cost of £2.99. The reason I went for this kit

is simply the price. The equivalent plane from

Battlefront is £11.50 plus P & P so I`m onto a winner

straight away.

Now apart from a few plane kits when I was about 10 yrs

old this was all new to me. For a start the kit is

absolutely tiny so unless you have the fingers of a church

mouse your going to have problems. Some of the parts are so

small I needed tweezers to hold them. On top of the that the

kit is not the best quality in the world but for £2.99 I`m

not moaning. I followed the Flames of War rough paint guide

which used Vallejo colours and did all the stripes by free

hand which you probably guessed by the not so straight lines.

Overall I produced a basic table top paint job. Three things that

bugged me about this kit were the rockets under the wings which

were just bad quality model kit, the cockpit which fails to have

enough model detail and the decals. The decals were intended to

go over a non D-Day black and white striped plane so don’t look

correct.

The photo below is the same as the black and white photo and

without the stand being edited out.

Finally I think a taller stand is needed ?

Anyway I`m off to straff some unprepared German armour 🙂

It must be catching this Infinity gaming

bug as I`m having loads of fun painting them.

This was the 3 pack by Corvus Belli which

contains 3 Order Sergeants armed with Combi

rifles and all belonging to PanOceania. The

plan was to paint them as close as possible

to the glossy web site paint scheme. To achieve

this I have based them on some Scibor Minatures

jungle ruin type bases and apart from a few

changes to the paint scheme I pretty much stuck

with the game plan. The only bit I`m not so happy

with is the actual guns as I was unable to get the

exact colour right.

I also had my own take on the Templar type crosses

and went for a smaller version which was actually more

difficult than I realised.

The Sergeants were painted with a combination of

airbrush and bog standard brush.

Oh just noticed this was post number 100 🙂

Eventually I want a board for town warfare and

this is the first house for the street. Its another

excellent kit by Najewitz Modellbau. Its comes under

the name of ” Dead mans corner” and I have modified it a bit

by removing the outside stairs and inserting floors inside

for soldiers to stand on. The roof is removable as usual.

All kits come unpainted and you have to fit it all

together yourself but its not hard.

I think I might add some creeping ivy to the outside of it

eventually ? The colour by the way is an exact match to a

French house I saw recently in Auch. Not Normandy but still

a popular town house colour in France.
