Needed something to sit next to my panzers

and just remind everybody that Blitzkrieg was not

all lightning warfare. The vast majority of the

German army went to war on foot or was pulled

by a horse. In this case they came back by horse.

It was built from balsa wood, two Napoleonic horses

from Essex miniatures and some wire.

Road tested this rig, the weekend just gone and

found the perfect use for it. After an hour of

play out comes the horse drawn ambulance telling

all players its time for a cup of tea and a break.

Just in case my wave of T-26`s comes unstuck I have

added an Su-76 to cover the retreat.

This little model by Battlefront was a joy to make and

paint due to high detail found on metal models. I also find

it much easier to achieve better detail when only painting

one model as opposed to a mass batch.

Enjoy:

I`m now tempted to build something big enough to

stop a Tiger 🙂

15mm Russian T-26`s

The Russian solution to German armour was often not to

build something of better quality but rather to build

greater numbers. Thus my large group of T-26`s which have

the fire power of a small gnat but eventually through

numbers one will sting you.

With all those Panthers lurking in the hedge rows

it was time to even things up. Bring on the 17pdr`s.

These have a bit more markings, specifically they

are 11th Armoured Division, 23rd Hussars Regiment.

I am quite pleased with the darker shade of green

as I was worried it would come out like Soviet

green.

Back to WW2 German tanks and this time its Panthers.

I have left off any distinguishing marks so I can use

them from 1943-45.

The paint scheme was a lot better than the Tiger.

Hardest part of these Panthers was the decals. I have small

fingers and its still murder trying to put them on.

Finally finished my KV1`s and took some pictures of them on the board.

Bring on the panzers.

Best thing about these KV1`s was that they only take a couple of days to paint up.

The photos are better as well.

Its finished, but I`m not happy with it.

Quite a few mistakes in construction and I don’t like the paint job. Oh the photos are`nt much good either.

On the plus side it was all a learning curve so the mark II will be better.
