I bought this model from Blitzkrieg miniatures during a sale and its been gathering dust ever since so while building a scratch house I decided it was a good excuse for a quick diorama to show it off.
The Sturmhaubitze 42 or StuH 42 was a Stug III with a 10.5cm assault cannon that was created to provide close artillery support for infantry. The model shown is of Stug belonging to brigade 341 with field modified schurzen and manlet debris guard. It was knocked out at 12 La Gare, Le Val-Saint-Pere,Normandy on the 31st of July 1944 while backing into the unfortunate house. The manlet debris guard is scratch built from plasticard. Wire mesh has been included and a 1/48 105cm brass canon was added as it seemed a better fit.
The black and white picture shows the actual Stug after the battle.
The house is made of simple foam card and as per usual everything is recyclable. The wooden plinth is not fixed so will be used again and the house wall will be added to a ruined house in progress. The base can be used again for another diorama or whatever is needed.

Very nice, I really like it! đ I’ve never seen a StuG/StuH with those modifications before.
Thanks,if you go online and search for Stug Brigade 341 you can see their field modifications.
I’ll have a look, thanks for the info! đ
Your welcome.
Very nice, brill work on the StuG and the scratch built house is great , well done.
I will try to get the rest of the house built shortly. Trying to decide on interior wallpaper for a French owner and I have found that dolls house sites have nice free stuff you can use.
Your so right đđģI to have found great stuff in dolls house shops đ
That’s a nice diorama!
The vehicle is great, but the detail on the wall is very impressive too!
Thanks for noticing, luckily foam card is easy to detail. A simple pencil is good enough to form the brick lines in the surface.
Now that’s something I’m going to have to try!!!
Two types to look out for. 4d model shop sell it in bulk. For thiner stuff buy Kappa lined foam board, its more expensive but the best stuff to work with(if you buy cheaper stuff you will only regret it). For thicker stuff buy EVA craft foam, once again the best stuff to use. I buy a large sheet of each(1metre sqaure) per year and its lasts me the whole year.
Ah, ok, so it’s a special stuff. I thought it might be the foamcard I use, which has thin board on both sides of the foam, I thought you must strip the board from one side. I will have a look for that. I have a plan to build some ruins for Chain of Command, though at the rate I’m currently building and painting, that’ll happen some time in 2054!! đĻ
I’m too busy playing with MS Excel and doing sums these days.
Kappa and EVA – gotcha!
Cheers
